Webinars: (A)Live or Dead?
Webinars have been around for decades now, though they’ve just now gained popularity as a result of the pandemic. Due to the unexpected nature of the lock-down, webinars saved the day and avoided the cancellation of numerous events.
Even though everything has moved online and continues to stay that way, we are facing lower webinar attendance rates and less engagement. This can be particularly frustrating as there is a large amount of time and preparation involved in successfully running a webinar. So what’s the deal?
In a recent article by Forbes, people are finding it more challenging to pay attention and less likely to attend webinars due to conflicting schedules, working late hours, or screen fatigue. Additionally, everyone is hosting webinars, or so it seems, so it can be challenging for your business to compete.
So, are webinars a thing of the past? We say “no,” but there are a few crucial elements that need retouching.
First: Let’s switch roles: would you want to sit through 90-minutes of what you’re discussing?
Second: Consider offering a recorded option for those who can’t make it. Although that may mean less people will attend, this may include views and engagement.
Third: Leave room for Q&A. In person events typically included time carved out for questions and networking, so try to work that into the discussion.
